Job Description

My client is a leading energy and services company with offices globally. They are seeking a Design Co-Ordinator to join their Sustainability team based in Manchester.

The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate with third party designers and clients to ensure that all designs, drawings and permissions are produced in compliance with the contract and in time for future designs, procurement and construction activities to proceed as planned. To understand, adhere and implement the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

Key Accountabilities:

· Coordinate between third party consultant designers to bring together a detailed design proposal

· Act as point of contact for design issues

· Establishment of design management protocols

· Clear communication of expectations for design deliverables with designers / design sub-contractors

· Control and integration of sub-contractor design elements

· Delivery of fully co-coordinated, detailed and compliant design proposals (including system layouts and respective drawings), in time and within budget for further design work, procurement and construction activities

· To coordinate effectively and efficiently with relevant procurement and pre/post-construction project stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of workstreams

· Leading and minuting design team meetings

· Liaison with the commercial team for cost checking

· Monitoring design production and ongoing management of the design stage tracker

· Design reviews, handovers and presentations to client teams and internally

· Monitoring of design and coordinating technical queries

· Distribution of design information

· Preparation and submission of client RFI’s along with administration of client RFI responses

· Completion, maintenance and monitoring of records

· Document management

· Reporting of design progress, RFI status and issues on a weekly basis

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Able to organise document distribution

Able to programme design works

Able to prioritise and organise workflow

Technical and process minded


Knowledge or experience of PVSYST / PVSOL

Knowledge or understanding of renewable energy projects including solar PV

Knowledge of contractual requirements of design and build contracts

Knowledge of design process and resourcing requirements

Knowledge of design requirements for procurement and construction purposes

Technical understanding of substructures, structures, services and finishes solutions

Knowledge of renewable energy projects including solar PV
