Job Description

My client, a well established, leading MEP building services design consultancy are looking for an Intermediate Design Engineer to join their Mechanical team.

They work on an wide range of projects across all sectors such as Commercial, Industrial and Residential, and are involved in some high-profile, notable projects which would look excellent on any portfolio.

Working as part of a design team, you will represent the company in client and design team meetings, produce reports, calculations, drawings and specifications, and monitor on site works.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Undertaking mechanical building services design duties
  • Preparation of mechanical building services schematic and layout drawings and supporting calculations
  • The candidate will be experienced and competent in the use of Hevacomp design software, and be able to carry out the following:

a) Heat losses

b) Heat gains

c) LTHW pipework sizing

d) DHW and MCWS pipework sizing

e) Chilled water pipework sizing

f) Ductwork sizing

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Consultancy experience
  • Experience of undertaking the design process for mechanical building services for commercial and residential buildings
  • Experience of design and construction building projects
  • Practical understanding of design, operation and commissioning of building services 2 of 2 technologies
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit and experience of working in 2D and/or 3D Revit Strong interpersonal / team working skills Experience of monitoring site and installation works Knowledge of building regulations, submission requirements and handover protocols
  • Understanding of the importance of delivery timescales
  • Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in plain English
  • Client focused attitude, ability to represent the company in discussions with the client, design and contracting teams

Professional Membership and Qualifications

  • Recognised academic qualifications, Degree, HND, HNC etc in a relevant engineering discipline
  • To have/or be working towards a recognized professional qualification and chartership / membership of appropriate professional bodies (CIBSE or equivalent)
