Job Description

My client is a specialist in the delivery of innovative technology solutions and services within the railway infrastructure.

An opportunity has arisen for an  IT Support Technician to join the existing team.
Reporting to the Head of IT the IT Support Technician will provide hardware and software maintenance, support and consultation to the users. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.

1. Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software

Main Activities
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
• Be familiar with all hardware and software
• Be familiar with network operating system
• Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
• Provide individual support on request
• Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
• Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources

2. Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access.

Main Activities
• Troubleshoot technology issues
• Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
• Provide network access to all staff
• Install work stations
• Connect and set up hardware
• Load all required software
• Provide network accounts and passwords as required
• Input and maintain IP addresses
• Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status
• Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
• Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal

3. Perform other related duties as required during working hours

• Experience with MS Office products
• Must have basic knowledge of current technologies available in the IT world
• Experience and/or knowledge of various networking systems concepts including email, firewall, client servers, network security, network protocols, etc.
• Previous experience with computer and printer maintenance and repair.
• Work independently and assist with multiple projects, priorities, and locations.
• Work under pressure with interruptions and challenging deadlines.

• Be able to present effective solutions to issues that arise.
