Job Description

Design Manager required on a permanent basis to join a well-regarded main contractor in Tyne & Wear. My client is a successful main contractor with a turnover in excess of £100m, who work in the new-build commercial, education and healthcare sectors. They're seeking a Design Manager who has previously worked in a main contracting environment and, the scope of the role includes:

  • Involvement in design and build projects, or projects with large elements of contractor design
  • Involvement of pre-construction/tender design management, as well as live/construction stage design management
  • The role is both project specific and also process related and duties will vary from project to project
  • Project Management of live schemes with the project management team

Main duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Manage the delivery of construction information to facilitate the achievement of the required project sot, programme and quality
  • Undertake the role of Temporary Works Coordinator if required
  • Review and improve (where necessary) design management systems and processes
  • Develop relationships with designers, consultants and the client
  • Have full involvement from tender stage through to project completion
