Job Description
I am working on behalf of a leading National M&E contractor who are in need of a Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis in Manchester.
The role would see you covering projects within a wide array of sectors including Education, Leisure, MOJ and Commercial. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well established, yet growing National company, turning over close to £500m.

Responsibilities:
- Implementation, and management of efficient and effective commercial procedures across the contract.
- Management of the established additional works processes to identify and capture items over and above the contract’s limit of liability.
- Providing commercial insights, driving profitable growth, and supporting the delivery of the organisation’s long-term goals.
- Key commercial interface across the account on all commercial issues.
- Preparation of contract variations and client finance model.
- Enforcement of policies, procedures, and governance to manage commercial risk.
- Leading contractual negotiations in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Providing support to the operations team with regards contractual commercial requirements, and any related commercial implications of non-performance.
- Assisting with the Engineers with the procurement of the Sub-Contract packages
- Raising the Sub-Contract orders for the Specialist Sub-Contractors and negotiating terms
- Reviewing Sub-Contractors payment applications and issuing payment notices and payless notices in accordance with the payment terms
- Reviewing, negotiation and agreeing Sub-Contractors variation submissions and final accounts
- Submission of applications and agreement of application submissions on a monthly basis with the client
- Submission and agreement of variations with the client
- Attend site at least once a week to and liaising with the client and site team.
- Agreement of the final account with the client
- Advising on any risks / potential delays and recording this information
- Issuing of Early warning notices and delay notices in line with the contract
- Monthly cost reporting and cashflow forecasts with the Project team
Requirements
- HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.
- A high degree of financial, commercial and customer awareness.
- Computer literate including working knowledge of MS packages.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, i.e. lookups, pivot tables & reporting.
- Excellent numerical and communication skills.
- Previous knowledge of contract models, eg. Cost plus, fixed price, shared savings, GMP, etc.
- Understanding of different forms of contracts.
- Experience of assisting with the development and management of commercial processes and procedures.
