What does the role entail?
The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the T&C team, Site and Project Managers and all third-party workers to ensure a coordinated commissioning process is carried out. This will extend to working and collaborating with the client, our external approved suppliers and or other third parties as appropriate to produce a homogeneous solution.
What will be my Responsibilities?
Responsible for leading the successful commissioning into service of new electrification equipment.
Lead the Co-ordination of site activities to ensure timely and efficient execution of the commissioning process.
Final quality checks and tests prior to entry into service.
Compilation of the Site Commissioning Report and Quality documentation.
Work with Client and Infrastructure Operators to ensure a co-ordinated approach to the commissioning and entry into service process.
Ensuring compliance at all times to Business Management Systems, Safety working policies, standards, procedures and standard practices as well as those applicable to Network Rail or other client infrastructure in all aspects of the commissioning process as required under the CDM regulations.
Have a good understanding of HSQE legislation and procedures
Providing support to the design team that covers cross discipline work streams to provide an integrated solution for the customer
Positively influencing commissioning and construction safety performance and aims for zero accidents
Maintaining effective communications with all project participants to ensure contract delivery
Taking an active role in leading the local coaching of junior /less experienced staff to ensure the developmental needs of both the individual and the business are met
What Skills, Knowledge & Experience do I need for this role?
Degree, HND or HNC in a relevant engineering subject area
Extensive test and commissioning experience within the rail environment
Network Rail traction supplies are typically 25kV or 50KV autotransformer derived. Traction supplies are derived from DNO supplies at 132kV and National Grid at 400kV. Experience of either supply voltage is desirable.
Ability to lead small/medium sized teams in their day-to-day activities
Holding a Rail Level A or Level B competence would be advantageous
Demonstrable experience of leading Testing & Commissioning activities.
Knowledge of Railway Electrification Infrastructure an advantage.
Experience of factory Integration Testing (FIT) and subsequent Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) following delivery and siting of the modular buildings is desirable Experience and knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines.
Demonstrable AC and DC electrification commissioning experience desirable.
Full driving license.
