Job Description

You will be involved with writing specifications, reviewing tenders, producing designs, providing site based activities including, testing and commissioning. You will also support and lead the management of technical interfaces, particularly with our clients.

The role will involve:

  • To design and build engineering solutions to customer specifications, working with the team members; Engineers, Design Engineers, CAD Operators and Documentation assistants to produce designs, drawings and documentation.
  • Define and develop scopes of work for design and engineering delivery activities.
  • Carry out monitoring of progress to confirm value for money and schedule delivery.
  • To assist in controlling the time, cost and quality of individual projects.
  • Support the Project Manager in processing client changes to contracts.
  • Liaise with clients to determine their requirements and assist them in the development of their systems requirements.
  • Reviewing technical specifications (both from the internal engineering team and external Client standards) to ensure they meet the projects technical and commercial requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the Rail Engineering Delivery Team and Rail Customers.
  • Liaise with our clients, suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the Rail business development/sales team.
  • Investigate any problems with site installations and make modifications if required.
  • Review proposed specifications, designs and delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering associated with Projects. Responsible for the acceptance and "sign off" of project documents.
  • Produce both customer and internal reports where necessary.
  • Interface with the Client and work to project deadlines.
  • Work to current Rail Standards, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Comply with CDM Regulations.
  •  Where applicable be involved in monitoring site teams as a Principal Contractor.
  • Assist sales with bid opportunities and presentations.
  • Fault finding whilst on site.
  •           Support the senior engineers and management team to supervise the progress of works and ensure that the development, design construction, testing and financial targets are met, and effect remedial action where required

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Possess an Engineering Qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent or significant experience gained from similar roles
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret designs
  • Advantageous but not essential applicable Rail industry experience involving control systems
  • Ability to use IT Packages such as MS Office, Visio, CAD, etc
  • Good Knowledge of system design, including general arrangements, schematic diagrams, loop diagrams etc
  • Assist in undertaking reviews/audits of design and/or construction activities, monitoring safety, environment and ensuring quality of design, construction, testing and commissioning and management systems are adequate
  • Able to engineer & deliver a project in accordance with client specifications, drawings & documentation
  • Able to produce & process project documentation (i.e. Functional Design Specifications, Test Procedures etc.)
  • Experience of requirements management for complete project lifecycle
  • Working Knowledge of Quality Assurance.
  •   Be involved in Project Technical Assurance
