My client is a specialist in the delivery of innovative technology solutions and services within the railway infrastructure.

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Radio Field Engineer to join the existing team where you will work as part of the Rail Field Team, installing and commissioning VHF and GSM-R kit.

The successful candidate will ideally have 5 years’ experience in a Radio/RF Field Engineering environment preferably in the rail industry.

 

Duties will include

  • Interpret and manage the requirements of technical designs and radio build certificates for on-site construction and testing activities.
  • Installation of various types of mechanical cable support systems within a varying array of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Installation of various types of coaxial cables potentially working at height to support radio transmission between radio base stations and supporting antenna systems.
  • Preparation and Installation of various types of antenna systems and passive devices within communications rooms, trackside, tunnel environments and working at height on tower systems to support RF propagation.
  • Preparation and termination of various types of cable connectors onto various types and size of copper coaxial cables.
  • Test and verification of cable and antenna systems following strict quality and technical specifications.
  • Analyse and interpret cable and antenna system test data to ensure compliance and diagnose issues, implement fault rectification actions to a high standard to ensure optimal performance of cable and antenna systems.
  • Assist with the installation of various supporting telecoms equipment including radio and fixed telecoms solutions, indoor and outdoor which could include:
  • Installation of indoor and outdoor telecom cabinets and rack mounted telecoms equipment.
  • Install and termination of DC power cables following BS7671 standards.
  • Prep, installation and termination of copper and fibre telecom cables.
  • Prep and installation of battery back up systems.
