Job Description

 

  • Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements.
  • Ensuring that payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
  • Prompt submission of estimate / tendering information to the client.
  • Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
  • Prompt presentation of weekly cost / value information, delivery schedules and associated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.
  • Preparation and presentation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts.
  • Preparation and presentation of forward work schedules and cash flows.
  • Procurement, negotiation and placing of Sub-contract Orders.
  • Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
  • Ensuring that all contractual letters/ notices and information are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc.
  • Commercial support to the site and contracts management team.
  • Commercial support to the Estimating and Procurement teams.
  • Overview and support of Quantity Surveyors under training as appropriate.
  • Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.
  • Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers.

Proactively challenges and seeks solutions to adverse trends or risks that have the potential to impact negatively on delivery targets

Relationship- Contacts internally and externally at all levels. Making and influencing senior external contacts (including negotiation) is a major part of the job. Ensure that the public, the customer, our supply chain and internal relationships are positively managed in the context of commercial management to meet business planning objectives.

Technical- Demonstrate pro-active commercial management skills in all aspects of activity. Ensure that the team has the relevant capabilities to meet the technical aspects of the assignment. Proactively adapts team / resource / strategy to changing circumstances to minimise risk impact and enhance opportunities

Commercial- To carry out the commercial function on assigned projects ensuring work progresses in adherence with company policy and procedures. Ensure best practice, adherence to internal and external timescales in reporting and submissions ensuring contractual entitlement is achieved. Advise on procedural changes to innovate or improve effectiveness. Strongly manage the close out of all non-conformances identified.

Reporting- Work closely with designated directors to develop, adapt and sustain a current framework of timely and accurate reports including risks, financial status and progress. Proactively report material exceptions and risks to business objectives to senior management as they arise. Working with the Commercial Manager to formulate mitigation and solution plans.

BIM- Maintain full awareness of the BIM responsibilities for yourself and any associated team members, in accordance with the BIM Project Staff Competency Matrix.
